If you were cited with an incorrect code,
one or all of the followings will happen:

Usually, it will take much more time to receive a Courtesy Notice letter.
(i.e. 2+ months)
And, you should call the court and ask for the reason but don't tell the court that the code is incorrect
since you never want them to fix it and the Officer will not have enough evidence to find your guilty
if the code is for some other violations. See my point ?

The Officer figures that out, and fixed it.
You will then later received (or served with) an amended ticket (copy) by mail with the correct code.
Then, much later, you will received a Courtesy Notice letter with a correct code on it.

The traffic court figures that out, and you received a Courtesy Notice letter with a correct code on it.

No one figures that out, and you received a Courtesy Notice letter with a incorrect code on it.
You should plea "Not Guilty" to that incorrect code in your Trial By Written Declaration, but never mention the reason for it.
Otherwise, the Officer or the traffic court will try to fix it.
And, the Judge either dismiss your ticket or requested the Officer to fix the code.

Then, you setup a Trial de Novo, and the Officer tries to fix the code at the trial.
You MUST OBJECT IMMEDIATELY to that change at the court trial since the Officer is suppose to follow the followng procedures
(CCCP 471.5):
- Fix the code and file with the court
- Mail (serve) the amended ticket to your home
- and etc...
