I drive more carefully when my brake lights fails – By Mr. MC

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

Since March 4th 2011, I have been driving without any brake lights, and I have been driving carefully that I won’t stop suddenly, or cut in front of someone and stop suddenly. If I know I have to stop behind a turn, I will stop before the turn so that cars behind me sees me. It is good to learn that most drivers, say 65% of them, do NOT rely on the brake lights in front of them to figure out whether they should stop or slow down or not. For aggressive drivers, or inexperienced ones, they do rely on those brake lights. If I get a ticket, it should be a fix ticket.

Avoiding accident during right turn and merging into heavy traffic – By Mr. MC

Friday, April 8th, 2011

When you realize that you have to stop before making a right turn and merge into heavy traffic, you should keep an eye onto the car in front of you. You must wait and make sure that frontal car has gone or at least 30 feet away from you before stepping onto the gas pedal. I saw so many accident where the driver behind were only checking the oncoming cars from the left, and when it was time to proceed, the driver step onto the gas to accelerate, and attempt to merge into the traffic. Then, the driver, at the very last moment, realized that the car which was in front of him earlier was still in the front although the car appeared to be accelerated. During heavy traffic, most car could not merge into traffic without a few stops. Sometimes, some oncoming drivers switch lane at the last moment which blocked you from merging, and you ended up stepping onto the brake to yield those drivers, and it is very possible the car behind you may rear ended you since the driver assumed that you left already.

My advice is that you must make sure your car in front has left, and there are enough room for you to accelerate safely into the traffic. Keep your eye onto the cars in front of you. Don’t worry those oncoming cars yet.
